Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

Work collaboratively with Heart Institute (H.I.) leadership team to develop and operationalize growth strategies and priorities.

Partner with other specialties (cardiac surgery, gastroenterology, pulmonology, psychology, etc.) as needed to holistically serve single ventricle patients.

Ensure physician coverage of clinical services. Will direct the efficient management of provider schedules to maximize resources, access, and patient satisfaction.

Partner with service line leadership, physician relations, business development on the creation and promotion of outreach education and outreach visits to expand market share and grow the program's regional and national reputation.

Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with appropriate clinical standards and best practices, which may include development of clinical pathways, algorithms, or protocols applicable to patients served.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Associate Professor:

MD, pediatric cardiologist board certified

5+ years of pediatric cardiology experience

Professor:

MD, pediatric cardiologist board certified

10+ years of pediatric cardiology experience

Condition of Employment:

Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado

Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in leadership of a single ventricle program in a pediatric academic setting

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Strong leadership skills, including interpersonal communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, problem resolution, decision-making and project/change management.

Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.

Exemplary leadership with regards to conflict resolution.

The Medical Director for the Single Ventricle Program will provide strategic medical leadership and direction for operations across clinical care, research, and education. The goal of this role is to provide outstanding clinical care and contribute to advancing single ventricle care through research, mentorship, and education of cardiology and other specialists. The Medical Director will develop and maintain clinical operations, which support CHCO's mission and values in an organized, effective, innovative, and quality and service-oriented manner. This role will be a champion of the Quadruple Aim and of CHCO initiatives, specifically regarding quality and safety and patient and provider experience. Scope of responsibility will include the delivery of evidence based, safe and effective clinical care, operational efficiency, business development, and patient and referring provider service.

this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

The Single Ventricle Program at Children's Hospital Colorado provides uniquely tailored care throughout each stage of life for patients living with single ventricle heart disease. This program is the only in a seven-state region dedicated to caring for all the health concerns of children who have had a Norwood, Glenn, and Fontan operation. The program's clinical aim is to decrease morbidity and mortality, optimize developmental trajectory, and improve quality of life for this patient population. The starting salary range () for this position has been established as Associate Professor: $286,211 to $305,513 Professor: $350,300 to $374,939 The above salary range () represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
