JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Information Technology (IT) organization in the College of the Liberal Arts at Penn State is seeking an IT Consultant to engage and support our research faculty, through a collaborative approach, and provide technical expertise to consult effectively on research initiatives.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Facilitate the implementation of the technical requirements in the Data Use Agreements (DUA); this includes data storage solutions, computer/user access controls, and media sanitization.
Consult with researchers on computer replacements, including technical requirements, configuration, and physical locations; ensure data destruction methods are compliant with the DUAs.
Assist researchers with implementing approved computer security exceptions.
Facilitate the implementation of approved Authority to Operate.
Provide consultation to researchers on administrator privilege requests.
Consult, initiate, and complete data migrations.
The IT Consultant will receive support and training from their supervisor, including on Data Use Agreements and Authority to Operate.

Education and Experience: This position will be filled at the level of Advanced Professional, which requires a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Applicants must have direct experience working with stakeholders, preferably in a research capacity. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are essential to this role.
Applicants should also have a basic understanding of general technology requirements and capabilities, as well as standard IT security protocols.
Experience working in an IT-related role in academia or a research setting is preferred.
In addition, successful applicants must either have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community, or describe one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity.
