British American Household Staffing
KP604 - Full-Time, Child-Friendly Housekeeper/Cook - Cobble Hill, Brooklyn
British American Household Staffing, Brooklyn, New York, United States, 11210
OverviewA warm, respectful family in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, is seeking a top-notch child-friendly housekeeper/cook to start no later than mid-November. This is a new role, and the property is approximately 4000 sq ft set over four stories, plus a cellar. This is a family of four, including two children, aged 10 and 7. The schedule will be Monday through Friday, from 9am-6pm (i.e. a guaranteed 45 hours/week).
The family spend July and August outside of the city, and though the candidate should continue to check-in throughout this period, nobody will be in residence, and so the candidate’s schedule will be greatly reduced. As such, this is a good opportunity for them to take their own break. This is a happy household and a return client of BAHS- the family’s nannies have each been there for 5 and 9 years, respectively. The family are looking for a true professional who will be with them for many years to come- they are willing to offer very competitive compensation for the right fit.
Responsibilities
House cleaning
Laundry/ironing
Prepare simple meals for the fridge that can be warmed and served for a few days e.g. prepare basic/nutritious proteins, veg, and grains a few times per week, and perhaps put together a simple dinner for the kids
Oversight of home maintenance and repairs
Shopping and errands
Occasional childcare (e.g. babysitting) and occasional event help (dinner parties, etc.) - candidates will of course receive overtime for any additional hours.
Possible future dog care (although the family do not have a dog yet), but it would be ideal if candidates were pet friendly.
Qualifications
At least 5-8 years’ verifiable experience in a similar role
Candidates should slot seamlessly into the family fold- the family are not overly rigid or formal, but they do require a sense of warm professionalism from candidates, as well as a good sense of knowing when to step-up/step back when the family are home
Both parents work from home a majority of the time, and they really value pleasantness, kindness, discretion, trustworthiness, sound judgment, intuition and a team-player mentality
Requirements
US passport, Green Card or EAC
Able to start no later than mid-November
Salary and Benefits
$45++/hr with negotiable health care and transit stipend.
All industry standard benefits, including major federal holidays - New Year’s Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. If the holiday falls on a candidate’s regular workday, then they receive it off, paid, or paid at time and a half if worked.
