This position has the responsibility for the development of a strategic vision and management of multiple categories consisting of high profile & highly complex materials including but not limited to toll manufacturing & private label finished goods and paint applicators. Responsibilities include developing & executing strategic sourcing strategies, monitoring market movements and negotiating agreements, working with a broad base of business groups, resolving issues with suppliers, and developing talent. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Functions Develop and implement domestic and/or global category sourcing strategies and plans for assigned categories consistent with enterprise strategies and all applicable Business Unit operating plans and objectives. Identify challenges & opportunities within category by overseeing the gathering, analysis, and subsequent interpretation of quantitative and qualitative information. Then subsequently choosing the best course of action by establishing clear decision criteria, generating and evaluating alternatives, and making timely decisions. Manage cost through forecasting, implementation of RFQs and other cost management programs including continuous improvement projects. Ensure that both internal and external client perspectives are a driving force behind strategic priorities, business decisions, organizational processes and individual activities. Collaborate with key internal and external functional areas to ensure strategy design, alignment and implementation of value objectives are met. Serve as the primary Sourcing contact for identified Business Unit Client. Provide Sourcing based information to the Client such as Forecasting, Market Conditions, Strategy Shifts, etc. Facilitate Client / Sourcing Related Projects. Advocate for the Client back into Sourcing. Serve on cross functional continuous improvement teams with Business Unit Client. Establish action plans for self, direct reports, & others to complete work efficiently by setting priorities, establishing timelines and leveraging resources. Identify and develop new suppliers. Negotiate and implement sourcing agreements/contracts which provide supply assurance and improve Sherwin-Williams' competitive position in the market. Control payment terms, discounts, consignment programs for areas of responsibility Globally. 1. Subordinate Activities 2. Oversee assigned essential functional areas for direct reports ensuring structured development opportunities & successful execution of department strategy. 3. Supervise additional staff to include hiring, training, setting goals, and evaluating performance. POSITION REQUIREMENTS FORMAL EDUCATION: Required: - Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: Required: - Minimum of seven (7) years post college experience Preferred: - Minimum of ten (10) years successful Sourcing, Marketing, Technical, Operations, Supply Chain, or related experience is desirable. - Must be a self-starter with an ability to work with minimal direction/supervision in a fast-paced environment. - Proven track record of Independent Thinking, Cost Savings, Technical Expertise, and ability to Drive Change within the scope of their duties. - Successful track record managing High Profile, High Complexity materials & supplies. - Track record of increasing responsibility with strong performance and focus on cost savings and security of supply. - Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, Power Point and Access. - Strong written and verbal interpersonal skills.
