Come work at the "Nation's First" Hospital! The Emergency Department (ED) at Penn Medicine's Pennsylvania Hospital (PAH) is looking for a PRN Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our cohesive, talented group of APP's. Candidate would work 12-hour shifts with variable shift times (Day, Mid, Night), including weekends. With PAH as primary site, you also may have the opportunity to spend clinical shifts at another downtown Penn ED as your secondary site, such as the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP), Penn Presbyterian (PPMC), or HUP Cedar ED.

**Note: Willing to give preference to candidate who is interested in working more weekend shifts, with scheduling preference and additional weekend differential pay included. Willing to consider a part-time candidate.**

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) at PAH autonomously coordinates care for patients in the Main ED (all acuity levels) and Vertical Track (ESI 3, 4, 5) areas. Mostly adult but some adolescent/pediatric patients. Common chief complaints include chest pain, shortness of breath, abdominal pain, MSK complaints and orthopedic injuries, infectious work-ups, OB/GYN and GU care, sickle cell patient population, headache/dizziness, etc. The APP performs mostly independent visits but has the ability to share visits with attendings as needed. We are an academic center with moderate resident presence on most shifts.

The APP will provide safe, high quality, comprehensive care to patients in a fast-paced and dynamic ED that emphasizes patient flow and throughput. The APP will complete focused history and physical exams, and order and interpret labs, EKG/telemetry, and other diagnostic studies. The APP will be responsible for ordering medications, performing procedures, and coordinating patient care plans, often requiring consultation with other specialties.

A successful APP will have strong, independent medical decision-making skills, be an expert multi-tasker, and have the ability to adapt to an evolving ED environment. Penn Medicine is looking for flexible, friendly, and patient-focused individuals to work at the "Nation's First Hospital!"
