Role:By emphasizing ONE Park, ONE mission, ONE team, the Special Assets Recovery Specialist plays a crucial role in preserving the credit union's assets by managing delinquent mortgage loans, collecting delinquent payments, and coordinating foreclosure processes and property management. This position ensures the highest quality of service to both internal and external members while supporting the credit union's financial objectives through effective collection efforts and asset recovery.Essential Functions & Responsibilities:Initiate the process of foreclosure of the property when Right to Cure letter has expired and other arrangements to bring loan current are unsuccessful; follow through with processes required for collections determined including property management and disposal as directed and approved by management.Place charged off loans with appropriate vendors while providing them with necessary documents. Maintain vendor relationships and receive monthly updates on the status of placed accounts. Alert vendors when charged off account holders file bankruptcy and of any recoveries Park may receive.Coordinate with all areas of credit services regarding all special asset activities including liquidation, bankruptcy, litigation, repossessions, probate, etc. Keep manager informed of collection activities and any matters that may need higher level review or approval.Maintain accurate files and reports on all collections activity utilizing credit union systems.Meet goals assigned and assist in meeting department and credit union goals.Provide assistance when legal action is needed including testifying at legal proceedings as required.Performs other duties as assigned.Performance Measurements:1. To ensure that collection activity is both within credit union policy and all relevant regulations.5. To maintain the delinquency goals as set by the Management Team.6. To follow the credit union’s Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering policies and procedures, including running OFAC searches, completing investigative reports of suspicious activity and currency transaction reports timely and without error.7. To maintain a professional work environment, promote teamwork, build respect among coworkers and present a businesslike appearance.8. To follow all security policies and procedures and report discrepancies or suspicious activity to manager immediately.Knowledge and Skills:Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience.Education: A high school education or GED.Interpersonal Skills: Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.Other Skills: Experience should be in high level collections efforts including mortgage collections and foreclosures.Must be fluent in usage of software including Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. as well as efficient usage of CU Core systems.Analytical and organizational skills will be essential.Physical RequirementsWORK ENVIRONMENTThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.
