Airport Construction Manager- Sr. Baggage Handling System SME

Position Description Summary
The Sr. Baggage Handling System SME reports to the Baggage Handling System Project Manager and is responsible for ensuring systems meet technical requirements during design and construction-related activities for TDIP’s Baggage Handling System projects. The Baggage Handling System projects include the Baggage Optimization Project – Phase 2 which includes the replacement of the CBIS/CBRA rooms in TBIT, the Terminal 4 Baggage Handling System project which includes replacement of make-up and distribution systems from ticketing to make-up (excluding CBIS/CBRA) and the inbound systems, and the Terminal 5 CTX project which includes recapitalization of the T5 CBIS and CBRA. Duties will also include trouble shooting existing operating BHS systems and working closely with Operations group.
Position Description Summary
The Sr. Baggage Handling System SME is responsible for managing the scope, cost, schedule and operational interfaces of all design and construction related activities for the Baggage Handling System projects. The Sr. Baggage Handling System SME will be focused on schedule certainty, budget delivery and making sure that construction work meets the required quality standards while enforcing a strong health, safety, and environmental culture on the project. The Sr. Baggage Handling System Project SME will ensure the development and implementation of design, construction, testing, commissioning, turnover plans, impacts to the operations, ensuring that risk mitigation for construction activities are optimized, working and coordinating with stakeholders and ensuring LAWA standards are adhered to.
Essential Job Duties
• Experience in design and spec development/commissioning/installation of in-bound, out-bound baggage systems with in-line security systems conforming to TSA requirements with knowledge of mechanical, electrical and control systems.
• Layout and Installation BIM Coordination with other trades for conflict resolution.
• Managing RFI’s, Submittals, Changes, Quality Assurance, etc.
• The consultant shall have thorough knowledge of Mechanical systems and equipment along with an understanding of applicable codes and permitting requirements.
• Provide support in close out activities/administration.
Hardware/Software Knowledge
• Word, Prolog, Outlook, Office 365, which also includes Excel and PowerPoint
Professional Experience Level/Other Qualifications
• More than 15 years of experience in maintenance and operation of Baggage Handling Systems.
• More than 15 years of experience in airport construction is required.
• Experience in the construction of large aviation related projects at domestic and/or foreign airport locations.
• Experience on Activation team at large domestic or international airport.
• Comprehensive knowledge of construction-related processes, as well as a thorough knowledge of industry practices.
• Possess technical skills in project management, aviation operations, training, documentation, communications, and/or operational or technology testing.
• Proven leadership and management capability is required.
• Good written and oral communications skills.
Education/Training
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or other related field required
• Master's degree preferred
• Optional certifications may include AAAE, LEED, PE, PMP, AICP, etc. or any other relevant professional licensure and/or certifications
Element-Specific Requirements/Notes
• Typical conveyor systems and high speed systems such as Independent Carrier or cart systems.
• Basic knowledge with bag tracking; coordination with TSA for CBIS (Checked Bag Inspection Stations), CTX machines, OSR (On Screen Resolution), MUX (Multiplexing Equipment); testing under TSA guidelines with Batelle; interfacing and coordination with BHS stakeholders which includes Airlines Ticket Counters, TSA, SITA BSM (Baggage Source Messaging), Airline bag handlers, and BHS Operator/Maintenance.
• Provide Project closeout administration including coordination and assistance for final inspection.
• Monitor and review the contractor's record drawings.
• Apply comprehensive knowledge of various disciplines to be used during design and construction.
• Become thoroughly familiar with required contractual obligations and technical aspects of all facilities to be designed and constructed.
• Monitors, reviews and comments on the overall planning of construction activities to identify critical milestones and priorities.
• Keep alert to possible problem areas and take preventative action to ensure that critical milestones are met for each phase of the project.
• Contribute to the advancement of TDG's goals through commitment to productive collaboration with all stakeholders.
• Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

• Consultant MUST have a company-provided laptop computer. This is required for company business and to VPN into client system when away from the office as necessary
• Cell phone provided by consultant is required
• This is NOT a work from home position
• This is a salaried position based on 40 hours per week at the applicable all-in labor rate.
• This is a Monday-Friday full-time position in the office or on the project site at LAX
• After hours or weekend work may be required to perform the duties of the position. This shall be considered part of the salary
• Transportation to/from LAX worksite is the responsibility of the consultant
