Junior AV Design Engineer

In this role, you will collaborate with experienced engineers and project managers to design, develop, and implement cutting-edge audiovisual systems for both small and large-scale projects. Position Overview:

We are looking for candidates with a strong foundation in AV/IT system design, who are eager to build on their knowledge and gain deeper expertise in complex, integrated AV systems. Key Responsibilities:

• Site Surveys & Requirements Gathering: Conduct site visits to assess client needs and develop AV system requirements. Translate these into detailed documentation, including equipment lists and scopes of work.
• System Design & CAD Work: Utilize AutoCAD and other design tools to create system layouts for large-scale audio systems, video conferencing, IPTV, digital signage, video walls, security systems, and network infrastructure.
• Drawing Creation: Produce and refine the following technical documents:
• Floor and ceiling plans
• Elevations (room layouts, rack designs, etc.)
• System schematics (signal flow diagrams, device mounting, and connection details)
• Electrical and structural integration requirements
• Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers and installation teams to ensure smooth integration of AV systems with IT, electrical, fire safety, and architectural designs.
• Pre-Install & Post-Install Support: Perform pre-install walkthroughs to identify potential issues, support installations, and manage quality control during commissioning and system testing.
• Training & Support: Provide client training on completed AV systems and offer technical support as needed throughout the project lifecycle.
• RFPs & Proposals: Assist with Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and vendor coordination, ensuring all project specifications are clear and accurate.
• Client Relationships: Help clients optimize their AV systems for future scalability and ensure they receive maximum value from their investments.
• Documentation: Assist in creating close-out packages for clients, and provide post-installation support where appropriate.

Skills & Experience:

• Minimum Experience: 2+ years of experience working with audiovisual system design and implementation, with a focus on AV integration, including design, documentation, and technical support.
• Education & Technical Knowledge:
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Excel, and Word is essential.
• Solid understanding of enterprise AV solutions, including video conferencing systems, control systems, and infrastructure components.
• Experience with major AV technologies and products (Crestron, Q-Sys, Extron, Biamp, Cisco, Polycom, etc.)
• Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex issues efficiently.
• Team Collaboration: Ability to work in a collaborative environment and communicate effectively with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
• Travel: Willingness to travel within NYC and surrounding areas for site visits, client meetings, and project support.

Preferred Certifications:

• AVIXA CTS, CTS-I, or CTS-D certification
• Experience with Crestron control systems
• Familiarity with audio solutions (Biamp, QSC, Poly)
• Knowledge of video solutions (Cisco, Poly, Microsoft, Crestron)
• Advanced networking knowledge is a plus
