Position: Network Engineer

Portland, Oregon

Direct Hire- Full Time

$90-120k DOE and Education

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer to join our client in Portland, Oregon! This full-time role involves hands-on experience in network administration, along with some systems administration knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

· Deploy, configure, support, and upgrade network devices, including switches, routers, end-point devices, WAN circuits, MPLS, and VPN services.

· Troubleshoot network devices such as desktops, servers, switches, routers, and video systems.

· Assist in patch management for all production devices.

· Collaborate in the development and implementation of standardized IT practices and procedures.

· Design, implement, and support network upgrades for various locations across the U.S. and British Columbia.

· Monitor network performance and ensure proactive alerting, as well as maintain historical performance records.

· Plan for network capacity and future growth needs.

· Work with cross-functional support teams to deliver high-quality service to both internal and external partners.

· Coordinate with third-party vendors to establish support and upgrade procedures for network devices.

· Maintain documentation on network designs, operational procedures, and performance reporting.

· Ensure the organization's network security standards are maintained and continually improved.

Skills & Qualifications:

· Strong understanding of network systems, operating systems, systems administration, and enterprise applications.

· Direct hands-on experience with configuring major vendors' routers and switches, such as Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, and Rockwell.

· Proficiency in troubleshooting wired and wireless networks, using network traces to diagnose issues.

· Experience with WAN technologies such as MPLS, EVPL, DS1/DS2, and legacy services like T1/T3 and dial-up modem services.

· Familiarity with network protocols such as TCP/IP, RIP, DNS, BGP, OSPF, SIP, VOIP, and SFTP.

· Experience with Microsoft technologies, including NPS, IIS, and DHCP.

· Experience designing, deploying, and supporting dynamic routing protocols.

· Direct hands-on experience with Windows operating systems.

· Extensive experience with VPN setup and support is a plus.

· Experience in industrial or manufacturing environments is highly desirable.

Education & Certifications:

· A bachelor's degree in a related field plus 3 years of direct experience, or 8 years of experience with enterprise network systems.

· Network and security certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CISSP) are highly preferred.

· Strong understanding of WLAN technologies, including 802.11 and point-to-multi-point mesh networks like Aruba.
