Are you passionate about making a lasting impact in optometric education and student success? Nova Southeastern University’s College of Optometry is searching for a visionary and dedicated Assistant Dean - Student Affairs & Admissions to lead initiatives that shape the academic and personal growth of our optometry students. In this dynamic role, you’ll create an environment focused on student-centered operations and will oversee a range of impactful activities, from student retention and professional socialization to engaging in special projects and community-building events.
As a pivotal figure in student life, you’ll work closely with the EMSA Director of Graduate Admissions and collaborate with a dedicated admissions team to support our future optometrists. Your role will also involve representing NSU’s College of Optometry to external organizations and university administrators, contributing to a seamless experience for both current students and prospective candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Success & Retention
- Design strategies to support student retention, addressing both academic and personal needs for holistic student development.
Leadership in Admissions
- Engage with applicants during interviews, support admissions recruitment, and serve as Chair of the Committee on Admissions.
Student Advocacy
- Act as a student liaison, advising and assisting students facing academic, emotional, or medical challenges.
Engagement in Community & Professional Activities
- Represent NSU’s College of Optometry at meetings, conferences, and within the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry (ASCO).
Event Leadership
- Lead student orientations, oversee student organizations, and foster professional socialization opportunities within the college.

Requirements:
Doctoral Degree in Optometry from an accredited institution.
Minimum 5 years of experience in optometric education.
Passion for student advocacy, professional mentorship, and creating a positive learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced graduate degree in research or business.
Experience in optometric research.
