Project Engineer - New Product Development

Fantastic opportunity for an engineer with experience in design and managing New Product Development projects. In this role, you will spend 70% of your time managing projects (cradle to grave), and 30% in hands on design work. You will play a crucial role in planning, coordinating, and executing projects across various stages of product development and manufacturing processes. We need someone that can provide technical leadership within the Engineering team to support new product development and legacy product improvements. Responsibilities include; providing leadership and creativity in the design, development, organization, implementation, and sourcing of designs and components.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor the execution (achievements/timeline/investments/actuals) of manufacturing and design projects and provide regular reports on project status to project team and key stakeholders
- Provide scope development, technical support and leadership for engineered solutions
- Consistently visualizes entire scope of a project with very little guidance
- Schedules, develops agendas, facilitates and documents project meetings
- Lead cross-functional team to deliver program objectives, facilitate timely problem solving and decision-making, and function as a technical lead
- Assists with completion of the New Product Development stage gate requirements
- Design and produce creative solutions in a fast paced and cross functional environment
- Follow established procedures for creation and maintenance of CAD databases and libraries.
- Prepare written documentation of processes, material requirements, test results and project activity as required
- Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with other business functions
- Support supply chain and quality assurance with first article inspection reports and design changes to meet changing supplier specifications
- Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis on the new and existing products
- Provide Engineering support to Sales/Marketing and Manufacturing on new and existing products and processes.
- Construct and test prototype components or assemblies as required in the development and approval process.
KEYS TO THIS OPPORTUNITY
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering degree/experience
- 3-5+ years of project or product management experience and familiarity with new product development stage gate systems preferred
- Excellent organization skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects and report progress and necessary corrective actions
- Proficient with Microsoft Project, SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor, MS Office, and data management concepts
- Demands attention to detail with project scheduling and reporting
- Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the company, both written and verbal, and competency presenting testing results
- Experience taking multiple concurrent projects from concept to launch and desire to work on projects demanding fast prototyping and production startups
- Ability to do field product testing as necessary
