Enterprise Architect

The Enterprise Architect is accountable for maintaining the holistic view of the organization's strategy, processes, applications, information, and other information technology assets. Enterprise Architect strives to align IT with business strategy and facilitates optimal application of technology to business processes. He/she operates across organizational and computing "silos". He/she continually drives common approach to technology selection and maximization of reuse across the enterprise.
The Enterprise Architect is responsible for working with business, other architects and subject matter experts to ensure that IT solutions are in alignment with the standards, target architectures and roadmaps for respective business areas.
Responsibilities
- Define strategies for inception, utilization, and retirement of capabilities and technologies.
- Serve as the escalation point for architecture decisions made on projects.
- Lead definition of enterprise architecture principles and standards.
- Lead rationalization of architecture components.
- Create and maintain description of the current-state architecture of the enterprise.
- Define target architecture of the enterprise or specific segment of the enterprise.
- Create and maintain the description of the target architecture of the enterprise.
- Define and maintain the capability and technology roadmap for the enterprise.
- Engage in Architecture Governance activities through Architecture Review Board, Change Control Boards, Steering Committees etc.
- Lead development and advancement of architecture framework at AmTrust.
- Work closely with Heads of Delivery and IT Functional Leads, to identify and address opportunities for optimization and standardization.
- Collaborate with the other architects and subject matter experts to ensure continual alignment of solutions with the enterprise architecture.
- Lead specific IT strategy definition efforts.
- Conduct evaluation of new technologies and recommend their adoption at AmTrust.
- Monitor and analyze industry trends and best practices and help define and implement standards and principles that drive architecture within AmTrust.
- Provide consultative and thought-partner expertise to IT and business leadership on solution architecture topics.
- Mentor and develop less experienced architects and other technical resources.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, systems analysis or a related field of study, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 10 years of practical (non-academic) experience designing, managing or developing applications in a client/server, service-oriented architecture.
- Deep level expertise in one or more of the following: application architecture, data architecture, integration architecture, network design, middleware, servers and storage, or database management.
- Exposure to working in a diverse IT environment with multiple integration systems, configurations, technologies and processing environments.
- Experience with Microsoft and/or Java technology stacks.
- Experience with messaging, web services, and integration technologies.
- Experience with evaluating and deploying cloud-based solutions.
- A strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and project management methodologies.
- Experience in architecture modeling techniques and standards.
- Experience with mainstream architecture frameworks. TOGAF certification is a plus.
- Experience with financial services industry is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills especially in areas of teamwork, facilitation, influence, and negotiation.
- Passion for documentation.
- Ability to travel as needed (up to 20% of time).
