Position Overview:
The Sr. Performance Manager responsible for a fleet of 21 fossil power plants capable of producing over 14,000 MW of electricity in ISONE, NYISO and PJM. Responsible for planning, directing and administering risk management, analysis and control programs. Identify and develop tools used to analyze the performance of operating assets. Conduct data analysis to identify opportunities for performance improvement. Provide support for process improvements, performance monitoring and root cause analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Track, coordinate, and direct team members to identify and resolve key plant performance issues/failures. Support root cause analysis, provide technical support and coordinate third party resources to mitigate issues which have the greatest financial impact. Drive the improvement of tools used to support this activities. Report results within the Alphagen executive team.
- Track, coordinate, and report fleet outage schedules, incidents, and performance metrics. Develop tools to support these activities. Coordinate between Plant Staff and other corporate teams including Engineering, Commercial and Settlements
- Develop fleet performance metrics and coordinate with plants to achieve these metrics.
- Be the primary GADS administrator. Submit data to various ISOs. Manage O&M service provider to provide accurate and timely data for review and submittal.
- Partner with plant managers and other technical experts to implement solutions which optimize plant operations to meet key performance indicators.
- Perform analysis of power generating fleet using GADS and PI data using analytical tools such as Power BI, Tableau or Python.
- Utilize predictive and preventative maintenance (PM/PDM) techniques to monitor and improve equipment. Evaluate and analyze process variables to identify status and trending of key operating parameters.
Qualifications/Skill and Abilities:
- Bachelor of Science or Engineering, Masters in Business Administration
- Minimum of ten years’ experience in technical support of a power plant, gas turbine, or support of processes within a large industrial environment
- Thorough understanding of NYISO, NEISO and PJM Processing and procedures.
- Thorough understanding of GADS, OSI PI, and or typical industry data collection and analysis tools.
- Thorough understanding of Power Plant processes and equipment and the interrelationships between them.
- Overall understanding of Power Plant operations
- Ability to effectively supervise, train and direct others (peers, employees, contractors/vendors) in an understandable, clear and consistent manner
- Risk management - able to exercise good judgment on the utilization of sometimes limited resources.
- Knowledge of root cause analysis and proficient in technical report writing.
- Proficient in the use of PC, and Windows & Microsoft Office applications with particular emphasis on spreadsheet, scheduling, equipment performance and word processing programs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
