The Bunkering Operations Specialist will play a crucial role in coordinating and executing bunkering operations for our clients in the maritime industry. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in marine operations, possess excellent organizational and communication skills, and demonstrate a keen eye for detail. Location: Houston, TX OR New York City, New York.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate Bunkering Operations: Plan, schedule, and execute bunkering operations to ensure timely and efficient fuel delivery to our clients' vessels in ports across our Americas portfolio.
  • Compliance Management: Ensure all bunkering operations comply with relevant industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines. Stay up-to-date with any changes in regulations that may impact the bunkering process.
  • Supplier and Client Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with fuel suppliers and clients, acting as the main point of contact for bunkering inquiries, issues, and dispute resolution.
  • Quantity and Quality Control: Oversee the measurement and verification of fuel quantity during bunkering. Ensure the fuel supplied meets the required quality standards.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all bunkering operations, including quantities delivered, fuel specifications, and associated documentation. Prepare timely reports on bunkering activities for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments for bunkering operations, identifying potential hazards and implementing appropriate measures to mitigate risks.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and cost optimization in bunkering operations. Propose and implement relevant enhancements to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including trading, sales, credit and finance, to ensure seamless coordination of bunkering activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
  • Proven experience (at least 3-5 years) in operations within the commodities industry.
  • Sound knowledge of international bunkering regulations, safety practices, and environmental standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building strong relationships with clients and suppliers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to handle unexpected situations during bunkering operations.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools for data management and reporting.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple workflows simultaneously.
  • A proactive approach to identify areas for improvement and implement effective solutions.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours and be on call for emergencies or urgent operational requirements.
