Position – MS SQL Server DBA

Location – Dallas, TX

Mandatory Skills:

Database Administration:

  • MSSQL and some knowledge with Oracle. Also need them to know AOAG – Always on Availability Groups.
  • Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances.
  • Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required.
  • Manage and maintain database security, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

Performance Tuning and Optimization:

  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures.
  • Monitor system performance and ensure efficient resource utilization.
  • Conduct regular performance tuning and optimization exercises.

Backup and Recovery:

  • Develop, implement, and manage backup and recovery strategies.
  • Ensure the integrity and availability of databases through regular backups and testing of recovery procedures.

High Availability and Disaster Recovery:

  • Implement and manage high availability (HA) solutions such as Always On Availability Groups and Failover Clustering.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery (DR) plans to ensure business continuity.

Database Security:

  • Implement and manage database security measures, including encryption, auditing, and access controls.
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.

Maintenance and Support:

  • Perform regular maintenance tasks such as indexing, updating statistics, and database defragmentation.
  • Provide 24/7 support for critical database systems and respond to database-related issues in a timely manner.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • Generate regular reports on database performance, security, and maintenance activities.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with application developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to support database-related initiatives.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior DBA staff.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA.
  • Proficiency in SQL Server 2012/2014/2016/2017/2019.
  • Strong knowledge of T-SQL and SQL Server internals.
  • Experience with performance tuning and query optimization.
  • Expertise in backup and recovery strategies.
  • Familiarity with high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Knowledge of database security best practices.
  • Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
