Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly technical Sr. Network Engineer who can lead people and projects to join our driven NetOps team. In this role, you will be responsible for (choose one, or create your own) designing, developing, and maintaining the core systems that power our cloud platform. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-performance solutions that meet the needs of our customers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Network Design and Implementation:
- Design, implement and provide operational support for Samsung Private Cloud solution
- Manage scalable and secure network architectures connected to other cloud provider environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
- Capacity planning and BGP traffic engineering of ISP and WAN resources
- Develop and implement standard network / security operating policies, procedures, and documentation
- Collaborate with SysOps cloud architects to integrate network solutions with cloud products and services
- Network Monitoring and Maintenance:
- Develop and enhance network monitoring dashboards to validate performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize network stability
- Perform regular network maintenance and OS upgrades to ensure optimal performance and security
- Utilize network management tools and automation scripts to streamline network operations
- Provide oversight and training for other Network & Security staff in Joyent 24x7 CNOC
- Participate in the Network Operations Team on-call rotation and other duties as assigned
- Troubleshooting and Support:
- Provide advanced troubleshooting for complex network issues, focused on minimizing downtime
- Work closely with other support teams to resolve network-related incidents and implement long-term solutions
- Conduct root-cause analysis for network failures and implement corrective actions
- Security and Compliance:
- Implement and enforce network security policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR)
- Perform regular security assessments and vulnerability scans, remediate any identified issues
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements within network operations
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior network engineers
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed network documentation, including topology diagrams, configuration files, cable-maps, and incident reports
- Generate regular reports on network performance, incidents, and security compliance

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, AWS Certified Advanced Networking) are highly desirable
- 7+ years Network Engineering and Operations
- 7+ years of implementation and support of WAN services and data center networks
- Knowledge of industry trends and impacts on network design, architecture, planning and implementation
- Hands-on experience with major networking vendors: Arista, Juniper MX and SRX, Cisco, Citrix Netscaler SDX/MPX/VPX and F5 VPN appliances
- Service provider and/or cloud provider experience preferred
- Expert with BGP and traffic engineering policy on Juniper
- Experience with firewalls, load balancers, and VPN appliances
- Experience with MLAG, VARP, RSTP, and other data center networking technologies
- Experience working in Linux or other Unix operating systems
- Experience with network monitoring tools and network management protocols (OpenNMS, Graylog, CloudVision, InfluxDB, Grafana, SNMP, syslog)
- Experience with any of the following is a plus: automation/scripting languages; server and network virtualization technologies; open source software

Compensation and Benefits
Compensation for this position will vary among specific regions due to geographical differentials in the labor market, and actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills, experience, and comparison to other employees in the role. Therefore, the annual base compensation range for this role (depending on the geographical location) is expected to be between $144,000 and $180,000
Regular full-time employees (salaried or hourly) have access to benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Employee Purchase Program, Vacation and Sick leave, electronic reimbursement and many more. In addition, regular full-time employees (salaried or hourly) are eligible for bonus compensation based on individual, department, and company performance.
