Real Time Trader – East

Tasks/Responsibilities:

• Trades physical and financial power in the Eastern Interconnect with strong focus on Physical markets
• Identify availability and secure transmission service for electric transactions through Open Access Same-time Information Systems (OASIS). Uses knowledge of the transmission grid to create arbitrage opportunities. Purchases forward transmission positions on constrained paths when appropriate. 
• Analyzes energy and transmission alternatives to optimize profits and ensure delivery. 
• Tagging of energy transactions on OATI 
• Accurately record purchase and sale transactions on appropriate blotters or trade tickets and ensure that all necessary transaction details are entered into Altop’s deal capture system. 
• Work with bilateral counterparties to buy power to be served to pools when opportunities exist
• Ability to work shift and support additional coverage requirements which may include team vacation, sickness, or system emergency responses.

Qualifications

• 3+ Years experience in power trading, power system operations, derivatives, marketing or bulk power system management. Experience in ISONE, NYISO, PJM, MISO, SPP, ERCOT or SERC is expected
• Bachelor’s degree in economics, Mathematics, Finance, Engineering. Master’s degree preferred. 
• Proven record in power trading with physical/financial power dynamics with characteristics of hydro, coal, wind, solar and gas fired generation. 
• Knowledge of financial and accounting practices used for physical trades
• Knowledge of different transmission types available for purchases and strong knowledge of WebTag and OASIS
• Strong written & verbal communication skills; strong problem solving, analytical and conflict resolution skills 
• Ability to make decisions quickly and mitigate risks while ensuring compliance with prescribed parameters 
• Self-starter with the ability to work effectively in a fast paced, multi-tasking, team environment
