Air/Ocean Freight Operations Supervisor

Key Responsibilities

Daily Management and Supervision:

• Oversee day-to-day operations for import/export logistics, managing the entire lifecycle of international shipments.
• Engage in hands-on handling of various shipments across diverse business sectors.
• Supervise hazardous material (DG/Hazmat) shipments and Automated Export System (AES) filings.
• Provide accurate rates and project quotes by partnering with Sales teams and international branches.
• Ensure smooth cargo tracking and timely client updates by leveraging Jusda’s global network.
• Innovate and develop trade lane strategies to increase profitability and optimize routing.
• Delegate shipment tasks based on workload, client specifications, and service standards.

Performance Monitoring and Compliance:

• Monitor route performance, quickly addressing any incidents to uphold service quality.
• Complete billing and P&L analysis to support profitable operations.
• Ensure compliance with both company and international regulations, implementing SOPs in collaboration with clients and stakeholders.
• Foster knowledge-sharing across the team, ensuring adherence to industry ethics, security standards, and best practices.

Team Leadership and Coordination:

• Lead operational meetings, keeping team members informed of updates and key performance metrics.
• Maintain essential certifications (e.g., CES, IATA DGR) in alignment with business requirements.
• Act as a liaison with international agents to facilitate seamless cross-border operations.
• Analyze workloads and support team members’ professional growth in air, ocean, import, and export logistics.
• Collaborate across teams, including Sales, Procurement, and Finance, to ensure excellence in service delivery.

Client and Vendor Relations:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring satisfaction and trust.
• Proactively resolve client issues to foster client loyalty and volume growth.
• Support Procurement by securing competitive vendor solutions for cost-effective shipping.

Qualifications and Skills

Required:

• Experience: 7+ years in international logistics or freight forwarding, with 3+ years in a supervisory role.
• Industry Knowledge: Expertise in international shipping procedures, customs regulations, and documentation.
• Operational Insight: Knowledge of airport terminal and CFS warehouse practices and procedures.
• Systems Proficiency: CargoWise experience.
• Certifications: DOT General Awareness and related training.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Adaptability: Thrive in a fast-paced environment where challenges are the norm.
