Focus on continuous improvement of existing and new manufacturing processes. Focused on improving manufacturing capacity and streamlining the manufacturing assembly process value stream.

Manufacturing Engineers’ primary duties are to design and develop production systems and improve the tools and systems within the manufacturing process. Manufacturing engineers must advise on the best technologies and processes to manufacture a particular product and design the factory where it will be developed. Manufacturing process development includes the definition, creation, execution of process validation and on-going verification plans. The person will be actively involved in inspections throughout the supply chain, as well as functional testing. The person will interface and build cooperative working relationships with suppliers, customers, and internal employees, therefore excellent written and verbal skills are required.

Job Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Be responsible for driving the development and documentation of manufacturing processes.
  • Responsible to support Manufacturing in evaluating Manufacturing Capacity, cycle times, create flow and free up space in production floor to allow for future growth.
  • Responsible to support Manufacturing in assessment of Quality Issues, investigation and corrective actions.
  • Focus on continuous improvement for Manufacturing Assembly processes and activities related to Design Transfer of New Product/Process Transfers into the site. Focused on design for manufacturability and integration to existing Manufacturing Process at Receiving site. Collaborates closely with all transferring and receiving Manufacturing Sites across all departments (Quality, Design Engineering, etc.)
  • Participates in Vertical Integration Opportunities to assess in “Make vs. Buy” decisions.
  • Collaborates with Manufacturing, Materials Mgmt., and Finance in BOM and Costing Analysis including Material Usage and Labor Standards.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement using Lean and Six Sigma Tools and Methodologies.
  • Drives favorability in Equipment Uptime (OEE) and Labor Uptime (OLE) by working with Maintenance in Spare Parts, Total Production Maintenance (TPM) to eliminate downtime associated with equipment and labor.
  • Specializes in several areas of knowledge regarding production / manufacturing processes: process design, line layout, product flow from component receipt to FGA ship, ergonomics, capacity, simulation tools, investment, and cost analysis
  • Strongly contributes to / leads continuous improvement actions; In particular, they must identify possible improvements in product design and the assembly line processes, following the (3) cost factors; Cost Avoidance, Cost Savings, Cost Opportunity.
  • Identify the strengths and weaknesses of existing manufacturing processes and sources new systems for production
  • Be up to date on new manufacturing processes and technologies to make decisions when it comes to improving optimizations across product lines.
  • Participates actively to Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and is responsible for ensuring that process robustness continuously replies to the needs of quality
  • Contributes to the development of new products (manufacturability, feasibility) and works together with Design and Sustaining Engineering in Design Transfer to the Manufacturing Sites
  • Manages Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) by updating material, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and routings when modifications are required by Engineering
  • Advise on the best technologies and processes to manufacture a particular product and design the factory where it will be developed.
