Overview:
The company is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the team at their headquarters in Chesterfield, MO. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for initiating engineering design, development, and problem-solving activities related to equipment, manufacturing processes, and their support.
Responsibilities:
- Develop innovative and practical designs that meet project requirements.
- Apply engineering principles and process knowledge effectively.
- Lead and coordinate the integration and validation of assigned components and assemblies.
- Define and develop new design concepts.
- Direct the modeling of components and assemblies for machine segments or modules according to specifications.
- Specify, select, and integrate vendor components.
- Design products that are manufacturable, considerate of operations and maintenance, and compliant with safety standards.
- Initiate, present, and participate in design reviews.
- Complete assigned tasks within specified timelines.
- Coordinate the preparation of design documentation with minimal errors, including part and assembly drawings, Bills of Materials, Specification sheets, Modification kits, and project files.
- Understand the roles of other functions and provide appropriate project support.
- Participate in team processes and contribute to achieving team objectives.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, project leads, and relevant stakeholders.
- Adhere to corporate policies and quality system procedures.
- Perform job responsibilities safely and contribute to the safety and wellbeing of all team members.
- Estimate engineering project resources in terms of cost and man-hours.
- Take responsibility for designs typically valued up to $500,000.
- Train less experienced personnel and facilitate the transfer of technical knowledge
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience and proficiency in engineering design and the use of engineering tools.
- Willingness and ability to continually expand knowledge through ongoing education.
- Familiarity with engineering codes and standards such as OSHA, ANSI, and EC standards.
- Current knowledge of industry practices, trade knowledge, and availability of commercial equipment.
- Understanding of engineering economics, materials, and fabrication techniques.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field.
Education Required:
- 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
