Quality Engineer

LHH is seeking a Quality Engineer for a Direct Hire, Permanent Placement position with a manufacturing client located in Columbus, IN. You will focus on improving production quality, reduce defects, and lead continuous improvement initiatives. The compensation is commensurate to experience and will range between $80,000-85,000 per year plus bonus and includes comprehensive medical benefit plans, Paid Time Off, and a 401K plan.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for achieving high levels of quality results while decreasing defects
- Create, maintain, and update an audit tracking system with coinciding audit schedule
- Inspect facilities periodically to identify problems and create weekly maintenance/remediation schedules so work can be allocated
- Inspect and test engineering systems for accuracy and log all errors
- Solve problems and conduct root cause analysis activities to eliminate recurrence of non-conformance issues
- Recommend changes for process improvements to the manufacturing and quality process
- Participate in quality audits, projects, or special assignments as assigned
- Assist the Engineering and Quality Managers with the strategic vision of the department, develop plans for improvement, and help in executing those plans
- Monitor the inventory of materials, replacement parts, and equipment
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and health and safety regulations
- Monitor, communicate, and improve KPI’s, including cost reduction, DPPM, and waste
- Update blueprints, designs, drawings, and schematics for process improvements, compliance, and simplification
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering is preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of quality engineering experience within a manufacturing setting is required
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, designs, drawings, and schematics
- Ideal candidates will possess understanding of Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing strategies
- Ideal candidates will have experience with federally regulated industries such as automotive, aerospace, etc.
- Must have knowledge of quality standards and health & safety practices and regulations
- Must be willing to learn, self-motivated, and a positive leader
