Job Description:

  • Machine Operator is an entry level position with no certification required.
  • The purpose for an operator at this level is to learn and train on the basic understandings of all Machining specific operations.
  • Operators have the basic level ability to set up and operate a variety of CNC and manual machines to produce precision parts with immediate supervision by a certified machine operator (level II or above).
  • Follow established standard work under immediate supervision in efforts to obtain certification within 120 days.
  • Operator follows and complies with established standard work practices under immediate supervision.
  • The operator will typically refer to problems or deviations to more experienced operators including Lead Technicians, Supervisors or Engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Learn how to set up and operate precision manual and/or computerized machining centers according to standard work.
  • Learn how to adjust machine feed/spindle speeds and the changing of tooling and cutters per machining.
  • Learn how to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Understand and follow quality testing techniques. Learn how to inspect product using precision gauges, measuring instruments and equipment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Manufacturing Documentation and Labor Transactions.
  • Support and follow all rules/guidelines/standards set by EHS, Quality, and CI functions as set by your leader and position.
  • Actively participates in the Continuous Improvement process as well as safety related activities.
  • Working extended shifts/overtime as required by the business
  • Some Holiday hours may be required based on business need

Requirements:

  • Manufacturing background
  • Manual dexterity to perform tasks associated with machine operations
  • Ability to learn how to read and understand prints.
  • Computer experience (e-mail, print documents, internet) and ability to learn how to operate a computer to access prints and/or specified work instructions
  • Basic shop math including knowledge of Geometric Tolerances
  • Basic knowledge with identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems
  • Ability to learn basics of the position within first 3 months of employment
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and management

Education:

  • Typically requires HS Diploma.
  • In the absence of a HS diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience is required
