Position Overview:
The Associate position is a full-time position that represents a dynamic opportunity for a finance professional to work as a key member of the Capital Markets team at TA Associates.
Reporting to the Chief Capital Markets Officer, the Capital Markets Associate will provide leverage and support to the Firm’s Capital Markets activities, for both new investments and existing portfolio companies.
Key responsibilities will include integrating with the investment teams to provide support for day-to-day execution of financing transactions, including financial modeling, structuring alternatives, syndication, and lender diligence.
Candidates will need to exhibit good business judgment, embody TA’s core values and excel in the ability to provide specialized support to multiple private equity deal teams simultaneously in a collaborative manner.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist in evaluating and optimizing capital structures for new investments and existing portfolio companies.
- Coordinate financing due diligence process with investment deal teams.
- Maintain internal database of banking relationships, transaction history and portfolio company capital structures.
- Proactively monitor existing portfolio performance against current and projected covenant compliance.
- Assist in keeping TA investment professionals up-to-date on the current capital markets and latest innovations and structural changes, including weekly and monthly market updates
Job Qualifications:
Candidates for the role should have a bachelor’s degree with strong academic credentials. Additional qualifications include:
- Leveraged finance/capital markets professional with at least one year post-undergraduate experience. Experience at an investment bank, commercial bank or private credit fund with particular focus on leveraged finance or private equity sponsored transactions a plus.
- Experience in day-to-day execution of all aspects of leveraged financing across multiple transaction types (LBOs, recapitalizations, re-financings, add-on acquisitions, restructurings).
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Thrives in a team oriented environment where contributions will be judged based on input to a specific transaction while also embracing the broader priorities and culture of the Firm as a whole.
- Strong financial modeling experience.
- Strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.
