Position: TGMS (Toxic Gas Monitoring System) Engineer
Location: Santa Clara, CA (On-site)
Work Type: 3-6 month contract to hire
Overview:
We are seeking a TGMS Specialist to join our team in Santa Clara, California, with a focus on semiconductor manufacturing, research facilities, and industrial/commercial manufacturing projects. This role involves working on complex project packages in collaboration with engineers and stakeholders, focusing on process chemical systems design and gas cabinet monitoring for critical Life Safety Systems. As a TGMS Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the technical quality and functionality of engineering tasks, interfacing directly with client counterparts, and designing facilities that meet stringent safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to deliver complex engineering packages.
- Design and implement process chemical systems and gas monitoring for critical Life Safety Systems, essential to client operations.
- Interface with clients to design facilities and meet project expectations, scope, budget, and schedule.
- Utilize AutoCAD and other engineering tools to support the technical quality of engineering and programming tasks.
- Provide field verifications and support on-site construction activities as needed.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university, meeting requirements for PE licensure.
- Knowledge and application of NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 400 Hazardous Materials Code, and electrical design.
- Experience in Fire Alarm system design, including VESDA systems, TGMS sensors, HPM sensors, and leak detection.
- Knowledge of construction specifications and experience in construction environments, including field verifications.
- Strong verbal and written communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Access, Outlook, Excel).
Preferred Qualifications:
- PE Registration.
- Familiarity with IFC, IBC, NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, and NFPA 72 Fire Alarm and Signaling Code.
- Knowledge of 3D BIM software (Revit) and AutoCAD drafting software.
- Design experience in semiconductor or data center environments.
- Experience in estimating and scheduling mid-to-large-scale projects.
- Understanding of controls systems, networking, electrical, and mechanical diagrams/schematics.
- Ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams with a forward-thinking, innovative approach.
Other Requirements:
- Location: On-site work in Santa Clara/Sunnyvale, CA, Monday-Friday during standard business hours.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to conduct site visits in various construction stages, including walking, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Authorization to Work: Must complete background check and drug screening. Fully authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
