The Mercer Island Schools Foundation is dedicated to raising funds to support and enhance the quality of education in our schools. We partner with the Mercer Island School District to fund essential programs, curriculum, and resources that benefit every student in the district.
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Database Manager to support our fundraising efforts by maintaining accurate and up-to-date donor records in our database. This role will primarily focus on gift entry, data management, and report generation, helping us ensure a smooth and efficient donor experience. Additionally, this individual will provide general support to the Foundation team as needed, assisting with projects that may vary depending on our current fundraising priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Gift Entry & Management
- Input all donation data accurately into our database, ensuring timely and precise record-keeping.
- Manage the complete donation lifecycle by processing and tracking all gifts, including recurring donations, pledges, and matching contributions, in accordance with established procedures. Oversee each gift from initial entry through to the issuance of the final tax receipt and acknowledgment letter.
- Database Maintenance
- Regularly update donor information to maintain an accurate and organized database.
- Review and clean data as needed, addressing duplicates and ensuring data integrity.
- Reporting & Analysis
- Run regular and custom reports to support fundraising and organizational goals.
- Provide data insights and summaries for campaign analysis and board reporting.
- General Support
- Assist with various projects to support the fundraising and development team, such as event preparation, communications, and donor stewardship activities, as needed.
Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience with data entry and/or managing a donor database; familiarity with fundraising software is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and experience with CRM or donor database systems preferred.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage and organize complex data.
- Analytical Skills: Comfortable running and interpreting reports to support development strategies.
- Communication: Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Team Player: Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
Work Environment
- Primarily an in-office position with some flexibility for remote database tasks.
- Occasional additional hours may be requested to support specific projects or events.
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
