Join MRE Consulting as a multi-faceted Junior Network/Systems Engineer, where you’ll assist in the planning, implementation, and maintenance of network and systems infrastructure with a focus on Azure-based networking solutions. This role provides hands-on experience across network and systems engineering in both traditional and cloud environments, with opportunities to grow your technical skills in a collaborative and supportive environment. It is a best practice to stay up-to-date on industry best practices by continually updating SOPs and drive innovation within the division to enhance efficiency and service quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent educational experience
  • 5-7 years’ experience managing technology infrastructure and supporting IT business processes, including but not limited to networking, telecom, data center, server refresh, client-side rollouts, etc.
  • Leverage PowerShell, Azure CLI, or other automation tools to automate provisioning, deployment, and monitoring processes
  • Strong understanding of Azure architecture, components, and services, including VMs, networking, storage, and security
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Resource Manager (ARM), Azure Active Directory, Azure Virtual Network, and other Azure management tools
  • Azure and Network certifications (e.g., Azure Network Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, CCNA) preferred
  • Experience with other cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS)
  • Ability to develop, document, and deliver client design/architecture and configurations
  • Ability to communicate strategies and best practices during design and implementation
  • Ability to put together Bill of Materials (BOM’s) and scope of works for statement of works (SOW)
  • Fundamental knowledge of project methodologies required
  • Experience with implementation of small to medium-scale multi site deployments
  • ITIL practitioner preferred, or someone who understands the process and can orchestrate the change to help a company adopt the ITIL practice
  • Demonstrated abilities to prepare documentation and training materials and conduct user trainings
  • Ability to write clear and thorough technical documentation
  • Scheduled night and weekend work or on-call duty will be required
  • Willing to travel

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing MRE and Client IT system and infrastructure
  • Diagnosing IT system problems, inefficiencies, and weaknesses; recommendations
  • Planning a timeline for completion of projects assigned
  • Understanding a client's business needs
  • Implementing a technological solution to meet business needs
  • Communicate between Service Desk and Engineer teams
  • Submitting change request forms to management
  • Collaborating with the technical in-house team to ensure familiarity with technology
  • Training Service Desk staff on client best practices
  • Monitoring the success of IT solutions and teams
  • Ability to engage in project management, systems implementation, and support skills by helping clients with their systems, networks and other technology solutions and implementations
  • Assist in configuring and maintaining network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and Azure network resources such as Virtual Networks (VNets) and network security groups (NSGs)
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues within on-premises and Azure environments using tools like Azure Network Watcher and other network analyzers
  • Support the configuration and maintenance of VPNs, ExpressRoute, and virtual gateways for hybrid cloud connectivity between on-premises and Azure environments
  • Help implement network security policies, ensuring compliance with security and data protection protocols in both on-premises and cloud environments
  • Assist with the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems, including cloud (Azure, Microsoft O365) and on-premises servers
  • Participate in system backups, virtualization, and storage management to support system resilience and availability
  • Support system monitoring, ensuring optimal performance and scalability through regular maintenance and upgrades
  • Document system configurations and updates, creating detailed SOPs and technical documentation for systems and IT infrastructure
  • Collaborate on data governance solutions, contributing to the setup and maintenance of solutions like Microsoft Purview to ensure data integrity and compliance
  • Assist with VOIP and cloud phone deployments, particularly in environments using Microsoft Teams for communication
  • Coordinate allocation of technical team resources to meet deployment and other support objectives
  • Develop and deliver related documentation such as SOP’s, HLD’s or BOM’s, technical knowledge base articles
  • Demonstrated experience in consulting role of a technical organization or consultancy with similar responsibilities
  • Currently holds technical certifications or has strong experience with the following: Microsoft Azure.
  • Daily time entry and updates of service tickets within ITSM system, ConnectWise
  • Regularly update and audit central documentation repository
