Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join their team and drive data-driven decision making within the finance and operations departments. The Data Engineer will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and infrastructure to support financial reporting, analysis, and business intelligence. This role requires a strong foundation in SQL Server, Power BI, OLAP, Alteryx, and Dynamics, as well as a passion for transforming raw data into actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Pipeline Development: Design and implement robust data pipelines using SQL Server, Alteryx, and other ETL tools to extract, transform, and load data from various sources, including ERP systems and on-prem databases.
- Data Warehousing and Modeling: Build and maintain data warehouses and data marts to store, organize, and optimize financial data for efficient querying and analysis. Develop dimensional models and OLAP cubes to support complex reporting and analytics requirements.
- Data Quality and Governance: Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency by implementing data quality checks, validation rules, and governance frameworks.
- Reporting and Analytics: Collaborate with business users to understand their reporting needs and develop interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI to visualize financial metrics, KPIs, and trends.
- Performance Optimization: Optimize data pipelines, queries, and data models to improve performance and responsiveness of reporting and analytics tools.
- Automation and Tooling: Leverage automation tools and scripting languages to streamline data processes, reduce manual effort, and improve efficiency.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support and guidance to business users on data-related questions and issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in SQL Server, including database design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Experience with data warehousing and data modeling concepts.
- Expertise in ETL tools such as Alteryx or SSIS.
- Familiarity with OLAP cubes and data analysis techniques.
- Knowledge of Power BI or other business intelligence tools.
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., Dynamics) is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to data quality.
Additional Skills (Preferred):
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP)
- Knowledge of Python or other scripting languages
- Familiarity with data governance and compliance frameworks
