Palo Alto Security Engineer
Atlanta, GA (hybrid but primarily remote – mtg approx. once quarter)
3 year contract - perm potential
$53-65/hr W2 only
Purpose: This position supports the client’s Specialized Cyber Security information security program to ensure the company’s information assets are adequately protected. The successful applicant will collaborate with business units to define and implement business security requirements and goals, and to identify and resolve business security issues. The position also supports information security compliance programs in response to regulations such as NERC, FERC, TSA as well as other state, local, and federal security requirements.
Education / Experience:
- Possess an in-depth knowledge of information security methodologies, tools, technologies, and best practices and how they relate to the organization
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems in a systematic and logical manner, and maintain good communications with all relevant parties throughout troubleshooting process
- Strong experience in Firewall Technologies, including hands-on experience in providing firewall support, installation, and analysis of infrastructure communication.
- 3+ years’ recent experience in positions directly related to cyber security assessment, information security, information technology, and/or consulting expertise
- Hands on experience with the following firewall and switch solutions:
- Palo Alto (Primary responsibility)
- Cisco FMC/FirePower, (experience a plus)
- Cisco Switches (DNA) (experience a plus)
- Firewall technologies (site-to-site VPN, NAT, Threat prevention & URL filtering)
Job Responsibilities:
- Engineering, installation, configuring, and support network and firewall infrastructure
- Develop and maintain requirements for firewall rule implementation including source and destination IPs, Ports, Transport Protocol
- Works with an experienced team of network engineers in performing vulnerability and fault analysis on enterprise level devices, and developing and implementing system remediation and recovery plans
- Identifying root cause of issues and making appropriate recommendation to avoid future failure
- Experience creating network diagrams utilizing Microsoft Visio
- Experience with development and maintenance of high-level and low-level design documentation
- Supports Operational Technology (OT) and the enterprise in all aspects of information security administration; trusted to handle confidential situations and data; conducts investigations and analysis as directed
- Engages with TO and business partners to evaluate and implement security process for critical infrastructure and key resources
- Provides governance and oversight to business partner security activities to ensure compliance with all corporate information security policies and procedures
- Establishes and executes program updates as necessary to adapt to the changing threat landscape as well as local, state, and federal security requirements
- Perform security testing and audits to identity vulnerabilities and resolve weaknesses
- Research security enhancements and make recommendations to management
Additional Information:
- Must have a valid state driver’s license
- Must be able to pass background requirements including NERC CIP and enhanced Insider Threat Program (ITP)
- Some travel required (less than 20% of time) normally not overnight
- Additional duties as assigned
The compensation range for this position is $53 to $65/hr W2
(dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
