Claims Administrator

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for receiving, reviewing, investigating, and recommending a course of actions for claims received from customers and reporting on claims analytics for a growing logistics and transportation services company. Overview of position includes routine reviewing and receiving claims and OS&D reports, making necessary adjustments, and communicating with internal customers for a timely resolution.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Review freight/cargo claim paperwork for processing accuracy and completion and request additional documentation as needed.
• File Preliminary and Final claims with Air, Ocean, Co-loaders, Truckers and other freight partners to recover any damages as a result of their handling.
• Follow up on all claims with carriers to ensure timely payment.
• Ensure claims process is followed according to the internal Claims Process Map; including taking primary responsibility for all freight/cargo claims.
• Responsible for accounting functions related to claim handling, including calculating proper reserves, creating salvage invoices, issuing the proper customer/carrier adjustments and third-party indemnification payments when necessary under the direction of the Claims Manager
• Work to eliminate claims before they occur through promoting best practices and concluding adequate and ongoing risk management training.
• Works closely with the VP of Brokerage and Compliance and actively supports the team and company goals.
• Focusses on ensuring that claim efforts are settled with Customer satisfaction and minimal financial impact.
• Build and maintain effective internal/external relationships with key partners who contribute to the claim process.
• Identifies and eliminates recurring problems through better process, policy, and training.
• Focus on providing high quality customer service to co-workers, management, customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
• Maintain confidentiality of company information
• Other duties as assigned, and supporting compliance team.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, preferred
- 4 years of freight claims experience
