We are currently seeking a qualified Mechanical EngineerPE who is self-motivated and ready to contribute to the future success of Ascent. We want the candidate for Mechanical Engineer to become an integral part of our team! Ascent Engineering Group is a consulting engineering and design company specializing in the disciplines Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Information Technology Systems for K-12 educational facilities, higher education facilities of all types, health care facilities, commercial buildings, animal care facilities, retirement facilities, and local governments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute business development to grow relationships and business in Tampa, Florida and surrounding areas, namely with municipalities and school districts.
  • Lead and manage a team in our Tampa office location. Individual will be responsible for managing the Tampa branch office of Ascent Engineering Group and growing it accordingly.
  • Design holistic design of mechanical HVAC systems, including schematic conceptualization, load calculations, equipment selections, layouts, piping, and writing specifications.
  • Designs will result in producing 100% complete construction documents.
  • Lead design teams on projects.
  • Ability to communicate well with clients, junior, and senior staff.
  • Analyze and interpret design verification data.
  • Will be able to meet project budgets, schedules, and performance criteria in a fast-paced environment.
  • Assist with coordinating design verification activities, including assigning roles and responsibilities in the verification process.
  • As needed, work with established outside vendor(s) regarding product oversight, timelines and quality control.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • P.E. license is required.
  • Strong client skills are required.
  • Management experience is required.
  • Business Development experience is required.
  • Strong organizational skills are required.
  • 10+ years of working experience with a consulting engineering or A/E firm
  • Experience as a Mechanical Engineer
  • Experience in completing MEP construction design documents in Autodesk Revit
