C++/Qt Software Engineer--Madison, WI

Duration: 12 month contract/contract to hire

Onsite/Remote: 100% onsite

Technology- QT, Lua, Windows, Mac, C++, JAMA and JIRa . they do not use squish in this area. They store all their requirements and used cases in JAMA. They use JIRA, Git and GITLAB as well.

Interview process: 45 min discussion, followed by onsite interview and tour

Job Description:

Well-established client in Madison is looking for a talented Software Engineer to work in our Network Team developing and supporting our networking theatrical lighting configuration software.

Candidates should feel comfortable learning new things and be comfortable in both team and solo environments. This job touches several disciplines of Software Engineering ranging from UI development, networking protocols, scalability problem solving, software efficiency optimizations, and more.

Qualifications for Software Engineer Job

Outstanding collaboration and communication skills

• Experience in C++, and Qt Framework

• Experience in multi-threaded programming

• Experience in writing software that uses networking protocols such as TCP, UDP, and multicasting.

A self-starter motivated to get the job done while satisfying project requirements

Ability to estimate time required to complete tasks

Additional Desired Qualifications

• Experience with:

o Lua

o Python

o Wireshark

o Developing software across multiple platforms such as Windows and MacOS

o Networking lighting protocols such as ACN and RDM

o Writing and maintaining build CI pipelines

o Jira, Git, and GitLab

Additional Project Details:

Biggest piece to remember- need to be well versed with QT platform. The need to understand how QT framework works-how the models work.

Another big thing- they need to understand how networking code works. They do not have to write heavy networking code but just understanding the basics, the terminology is going to be important -how the devices talk to each other. How signals are sent.
