Meet the team:

The Onboard Platforms team is responsible for the hardware/software interface on the vehicle, and oversees core fundamental systems such as operating systems, hardware monitoring, and networking. We are seeking a Engineering Manager to coordinate the activities on the team, ensure cohesive cross functional designs, build and grow the composition of the team, and develop a long term vision for future operating systems and platforms for Ford ADAS systems.

What you’ll do:

  • Build and manage a team of engineers
  • Work directly with hardware engineers, software engineers and the executive leadership team to ensure both technical and business objectives are met
  • Develop software to meet functional and security requirements for Ford ADAS systems
  • Develop the interface software both for in-house designed and off-the-shelf hardware
  • Help to design the software and networking platform for ADAS systems
  • Implement an end to end security model
  • Interface with the hardware team to implement the low level monitoring and communication of the system hardware

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field and 7+ years of relevant experience (or Master's degree and 5+ years of relevant experience, or PhD and 2+ years of relevant experience)
  • Strong software engineering skills with a background in C or C++
  • Proficiency in network communication concepts including protocols, physical layer requirements, bandwidth characteristics, and configuration
  • Strong software design, algorithm, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Experience with multicore embedded processors
  • Familiarity with Embedded RTOS such as Autosar, QNX, and/or Embedded Linux desired
  • Knowledge of Linux configuration, BSPs, and bootloaders
  • Experience working with common protocols such as SPI, I2C, and CAN
  • Prefer candidates with experience developing software for highly complex, safety-critical sensing systems

Nice to have:

  • Background in driver development in kernel and user space
  • Background in tooling development for validation and verification of hardware/software interfaces
  • Experience with automotive ECU design and integration with vehicle platforms.
  • Experience debugging low level software and hardware interfaces
  • Experience developing linux based operating systems
  • Understanding of networking and time-sensitve networking
  • Familiarity (or more) with Linux security and/or chains of trust booting
  • Experience with Yocto/OpenEmbedded, buildroot, or similar Linux packaging technologies
  • Track record of technical leadership in automotive or related fields taking products to production

The expected base salary range for this full-time position in California is $211,920 - $317,880 USD. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Latitude employees are also eligible to participate in Latitude’s annual bonus programs, equity compensation, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.
