Job Title: Failure Analysis Engineers
Salary: $85,000 - $100,000/yr
Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00AM – 5:00PM

Job Summary: As a member of the senior engineering team, the Failure Analysis Engineer is responsible for resolving product problems related to Industry Standard Servers. This role involves interfacing with customers and collaborating with R&D, Product Engineering, and Quality Engineering teams to conduct in-depth circuit failure analyses, leading to the identification of root causes and corrective action recommendations for the ESSN Server Products portfolio. Note: All candidates MUST be able and open to travel abroad as necessary to various locations.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct engineering investigations for significant customer field and line escalations related to hardware issues.
- Enhance customer satisfaction and product quality by ensuring timely resolution of hardware-related issues.
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to determine root causes of hardware issues down to the component level.
- Work with various internal engineering disciplines (HW, SW, Mechanical, Materials, Reliability) to resolve hardware challenges.
- Facilitate execution of special capture programs (ARDAP/Early Field Capture & Selective Field Capture).
- Provide feedback to internal and external process and design teams based on analytical findings.
- Support internal communication of techniques and processes to improve product knowledge and drive efficiencies in WW RMA & Service Centers.
- Promote “best practices” across WW Operational, RMA & Service Sites.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education, Experience, and Training:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field, with 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Proven ability to debug complex hardware issues using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment.
- Experience with electrical and electronic design tools (CAD, schematic capture, PCB layout software) and various testing methodologies (functional testing, boundary scan testing, in-circuit testing).
- Knowledge of key server technologies, including Intel and AMD multi-core microprocessors, DDR 3/4, NAND memory, and PCA design. Familiarity with PCI-e protocols, SAS, SCSI, SATA, FibreChannel, Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth, NVME, and SSD technologies.
- Self-motivated team player capable of thriving in a customer-oriented, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of the full hardware/software development life cycle.
- Experience in hardware/firmware/software development and testing methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel abroad for extended periods to support international employees.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficiency in programming languages (C#, JavaScript, Python, SQL).
- Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, CentOS, Ubuntu, Linux, Tiny Linux).
- Experience troubleshooting analog and digital circuits, including root cause analysis at PCBA and system levels for customer devices.
- Highly skilled in interpreting assembly drawings, schematics, and board layouts; capable of analyzing circuits and layouts to identify failure root causes.
- Proficient with testing and measuring devices (functional generators, DMMs, oscilloscopes, adjustable power supplies).
- Understanding of the RMA process and data collection/analysis.
- Ability to develop, maintain, and improve troubleshooting solutions within the area of responsibility.
- Strong organizational skills; collaborates with engineering teams to expedite RMA product returns to customers.
- Knowledge of PCA, system, RMA, and service manufacturing environments.
- Skill in isolating and safely injecting failures during debug processes from the server layer into specific PCAs.
- Familiarity with Linux commands and structures, preferably with exposure to IPMITools.
- Ability to create, develop, and debug algorithms and test tools for failure isolation, along with strong documentation skills for team sharing
