Summary
We are seeking a Product Design Engineer at our Goertek Bellevue office to work on the consumer electronics product design MR and AR glasses. The Product Design Engineer in this position discusses the design solution with the customer and be able to complete the detailed mechanical design independently. During production build, the Product Dessign Engineer assists the FA and serves as a bridge between Gortek factory and the customer.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex mechanical solutions as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience in Plastic part/Metal parts/FPCs design, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques.
- Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing techniques (stamping, machining, injection molding).
- Promote state-of-the-art technologies and approaches to solving complex mechanical problems.
- Organize regular meetings with customers to discuss issues and solutions.
Qualifications
- MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
- Industry veteran (10-15 years of experience in high complexity products) that understands design, fluent in NX CAD, in detail design of components, driving DOEs, and leading debug of failures.
- Prototyping: supports quick prototyping and data collection on interfaces & fastening evaluations and design concepts
- High proficiency in NX to support drafting for assembly process documentation in selected areas.
- Process Optimization: Perform studies as directed including adhesive bond strength, screw torque, liquid dispense automation, surface energy evaluation. Propose alternative materials, methods and equipment.
- DFM Feedback: Provide input on parts and assembly process flow. Highlight key risks, challenges, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Assembly Fixture and Equipment: DOE/Design evaluation assembly fixtures and drive equipment to meet system requirements.
- In-Process Inspection: Collect measurements and images of subassemblies and assemblies throughout the line flow (including Instrumental data).
- Testing: Provide Reliability testing and Failure analysis (FA) as requested.
- Experience designing handheld and wearable electronics for high volume manufacturing.
- Experience with NX.
- Experience with products cosmetic surface treatments and interfacing with industrial design teams.
- Fluency in Mandarin Chinese desired.
- The base pay range for this role is between $127,000.00 to $177,000.00 annually and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
