Job Opportunity: Plaintiff Paralegal

Our firm is seeking a dedicated Legal Assistant to manage and coordinate complex litigation cases, often with multiple concurrent trials. Key Responsibilities:

  • Calendar & Deadline Management: Oversee critical case deadlines, including meetings, pre-trial/trial events, depositions, motions, IMEs/DMEs, and mediations.
  • Document Drafting & Communication: Draft correspondence, pleadings, and discovery under attorney supervision, and communicate professionally with clients, experts, and defense counsel.
  • File Monitoring & Prioritization: Track case files and escalate time-sensitive matters to avoid conflicts and ensure timely completion of deadlines.
  • Trial Preparation: Draft pretrial and trial documents, including jury instructions, exhibit/witness lists, and case statements. Prepare mediation, deposition, and trial binders, especially for LA PI Hub cases.
  • Discovery & Evidence Management: Organize and analyze discovery materials, including medical records, DME reports, depositions, and investigative documents. Summarize medical chronologies and deposition testimony.
  • Subpoena & Record Tracking: Manage subpoenas, requests, and maintain an index of received records.
  • Case File Organization: Maintain files and manage all documents, updating indices, chronologies, and witness lists.
  • Research Support: Conduct online research on experts, background checks, and case investigations.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 4+ years of civil litigation experience, supporting litigators in plaintiff-focused settings.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of civil litigation procedures and deadlines, including expert demands and discovery cut-offs.
  • Skills: Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, with excellent critical thinking, communication, and proofreading abilities.
  • Professionalism: High attention to detail, work ethic, and respectfulness.
  • Education: High school diploma and Paralegal Certificate (or 4+ years of relevant experience).
