Automation & Controls Technician

DAP is looking to hire Automation & Controls Engineer at Dallas, TX Plant.

The Automation & Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, programming, and maintaining automated control systems at DAP Manufacturing Plant. This role involves working with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), motor drives, and other configurable electronics to enhance system efficiency, reliability, and safety. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive improvements, manage complex control system projects, and ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement control systems for automated machinery and processes.
  • Program and configure PLCs, particularly Allen Bradley PLCs (Micrologix, CompactLogix, and ControlLogix) using RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, and Studio 5000.
  • Design HMIs and troubleshoot HMI-related issues.
  • Develop and implement hardware and software test plans
  • Develop and maintain SCADA systems, utilizing Ignition SCADA.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for control systems and processes.
  • Conduct system testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
  • Integrate various automation systems and equipment to work seamlessly together.
  • Manage control software backups, including maintaining a comprehensive repository
  • Map product lifecycle and obsolescence of automation and controls-related assets.
  • Provide troubleshooting, problem analysis, and technical support for all automation and controls-related issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in automation and control systems engineering.
  • Bachelors / associate degree or Specialized training beyond High School.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming and configuration, particularly with Allen Bradley equipment and Studio 5000.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Rockwell Automation hardware/software, motion control
  • Kinetix drives, VFD’s and HMI Development.
  • Experience with Ignition Designer SCADA systems
  • Strong knowledge of industrial control systems, manufacturing processes, and safety standards. Including database management and SQL, as well as knowledge of Industry 4.0 concepts.
  • Experience with -Experience with MQTT, OPC-UA, communications
