Position Roles & Responsibilities:
As a key member of our team, you will collaborate with a prominent aerospace Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specializing in aircraft engines. Your primary focus will be taking ownership of component design and structural analysis.
Required Skills:
• Technical Substantiation: Utilize Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and relevant/related hand calculations, to provide technical substantiation for mechanical design decisions.
• Technical Contribution: Actively participate in technical and program reviews, contributing valuable insights, expertise, and communication with the customer.
• CAE Tool Proficiency: Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tools including: ANSYS Classic, ANSYS Workbench, Siemens Simcenter, Nastran/Patran, and ABAQUS for analysis tasks. Some Siemens NX CAD experience for model modifications would be advantageous.
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate directly with internal and external engineering teams, fostering effective communication and synergy.
• Engineering Problem Solving: Formulate and apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts to address complex engineering challenges.
• Document and Reporting: Thoroughly document all work, including analysis plans, in compliance with customer requirements and prepare and deliver comprehensive reports/presentations on your findings.
• Please note that this position may involve additional tasks as assigned beyond the listed responsibilities.
• Required Skills:
• Educational Background: Possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or related engineering field from an accredited university.
• Experience: Have a minimum of 1 year of experience in aerospace structural analysis, or alternatively hold a Master's Degree in engineering from an accredited university.
• Aerospace Expertise: Demonstrate expertise in aerospace structures, gas turbines, or turbomachinery and a strong understanding of low cycle fatigue (LCF) and fatigue and fracture mechanics theory and applications.
• Communication Skills: Exhibit strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees and managers at all organizational levels.
• Security Clearance: Currently have or be willing to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship is a requirement).
Desired Skills:
• Geometry and Mesh Preparation: Proficiency in geometry and mesh preparation using tools such as: ANSYS Classic/Workbench, Siemens Simcenter, Abaqus, Nastran/Patran.
• Model Setup and Analysis: Experience in model setup and analysis with tools like: ANSYS Classic/Workbench, Siemens Simcenter, Abaqus, Nastran/Patran.
• Post-processing and Presentation: Ability to post-process data and create high-quality presentations of results.
• Material and Strength Knowledge: Familiarity with strength, fatigue, and durability properties, as well as materials, processes, and part standards.
• Time Management: Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work efficiently under time constraints, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Team Collaboration: Thrive in a collaborative and dynamic team environment, appreciating diverse experiences and contributing positively.
• Security Clearance: Possess or be willing and eligible to pursue an active DoD Secret clearance (or higher) that is in-scope, granted, or renewed within the last 5 years.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
• Work Environment: Primarily office-based, requiring on-site presence at the customer facility for 40 hours per week.
• Task Allocation: Extensive telephone, video conferencing and computer work in alignment with industry regulations and procedures.
• Schedule Flexibility: Flexibility to accommodate business deadlines, including occasional early or late hours.
• Workweek: Typically follows a 40-hour workweek, with core (required) hours from 9 AM to 4 PM.
Transportation: Capability to get to and from work at customer locations.
• Citizenship Requirement: Due to the nature of the work, all candidates must be U.S. Citizens.
Travel: Occasional business travel to customer sites will be required.
