Legal Assistant - Labor and Employment

Our client is a Law Firm looking for a Legal Assistant/Paralegal with experience in Labor and Employment Litigation to join their team.
Key Responsibilities.
- Case Management & Support:
- Assist attorneys in managing labor and employment law cases, including the preparation and filing of court documents, motions, pleadings, and discovery requests. Maintain case files, track deadlines, and coordinate communication between clients, experts, and opposing counsel. Ensure compliance with court rules and procedures, especially for federal courts
- Research & Legal Analysis:
- Conduct legal research on labor and employment law issues, including wage & hour laws, discrimination claims, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) compliance, and other related areas. Analyze case law and statutes to support litigation strategy, with a particular focus on federal labor and employment law
- Litigation Support:
- Assist in preparing for court hearings, arbitrations, and administrative proceedings. Prepare exhibits, trial binders, and witness lists. Attend trials, depositions, and hearings in federal and state courts, providing support as needed.
- Document Drafting:
- Draft and review various legal documents such as contracts, settlement agreements, non-compete agreements, severance packages, and compliance-related documentation. Prepare and file documents in both federal and state courts in compliance with relevant procedural rules.
- Administrative & Client Interaction:
- Communicate regularly with clients to gather information, update them on case status, and manage expectations. Coordinate meetings, depositions, and conferences. Assist with scheduling and maintaining attorney calendars.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Assist in ensuring compliance with federal and state labor laws, including wage & hour regulations, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN), and other employment-related statutes.
- Arbitration & EEOC Proceedings:
- Support attorneys in administrative matters, including investigations before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). Assist with preparation for arbitration and other alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes.
- Client Confidentiality:
- Ensure all sensitive client and case information is handled with the utmost confidentiality and in accordance with firm policies and ethical standards.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant, Paralegal, or similar role in a Labor and Employment law setting.
- Experience with labor law litigation, wage & hour issues, discrimination claims, and employment contract matters preferred.
- Experience supporting attorneys in federal court litigation is highly preferred.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of labor and employment law, including familiarity with statutes such as the FMLA, WARN Act, and National Labor Relations Act (NLRA).
- Proficient in legal research, case management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear and concise legal documents.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
