Role Description:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Business Data Analyst to bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams. The Business Data Analyst will be responsible for gathering and translating business requirements into data-driven insights and actionable recommendations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, data modeling, and data management processes, along with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams to drive data-centric business solutions. This role involves working with large datasets, ensuring data quality, and collaborating on data platform migrations and system integrations.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business requirements for data projects and initiatives.
Translate business needs into technical specifications for data engineers and developers to ensure successful data solutions.
Perform data analysis and create nge datasets to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies that can inform business decisions.
Work with cross-functional teams, including data modelers, data engineers, and developers, to support data platform migrations, integrations, and process improvements.
Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data by conducting data quality checks and assisting with data cleansing initiatives.
Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of data models (conceptual, logical, and physical) to support business processes.
Support the development and optimization of ETL processes, ensuring efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading.
Facilitate regular communication with business stakeholders, providing updates on data projects, milestones, and results.
Assist with metadata management and ensure data governance practices are followed to maintain data integrity and security.
Required Skills and Experience:
5+ years of experience as a Business Data Analyst or in a related data-centric role, with a focus on data analysis, reporting, and business intelligence.
Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts, including ETL processes, data modeling, and data management frameworks.
Hands-on experience with SQL and the ability to write complex queries for data analysis and reporting.
Experience working with data modeling tools (Erwin, ER Studio, or similar) and data management platforms like SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, or AWS Redshift.
Proven ability to work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present data-driven insights to non-technical audiences.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot data issues and resolve discrepancies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) for creating reports and dashboards.
Knowledge of data governance frameworks and metadata management.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Snowflake) and their data services.
Experience working in Agile or Scrum project management environments. Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
