Operations Manager

Position Purpose:
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure efficient production and compliance with safety and quality standards. This role involves strategic planning, employee management, and cross-department collaboration to meet customer requirements at the lowest cost. The Operations Manager will drive continuous improvement initiatives, enhance operational capabilities, and maintain a productive and safe work environment. Work is performed under the general direction of senior management and includes supervising both direct and indirect employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate a team of supervisors across a 24/7 operation to ensure effective, efficient continuous production and support.
- Ensure production meets all customer requirements and regulatory standards.
- Monitor operational performance against established schedules, etc. to meet established KPIs.
- Drive improvements in operational capabilities, efficiencies, quality, and safety.
- Foster an environment of employee involvement, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Coach and develop direct reports to ensure effective teamwork and individual effectiveness.
- Develop a flexible department that can respond quickly to changing customer requirements and management demands.
- Prepare and maintain records, reports, and other documents as required related to production, productivity, and quality.
- Maintain safe working conditions and practices in compliance with company policies and local, state, and federal laws.
- Collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering to improve equipment performance.
- Perform other tasks and special projects as required by senior management.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Degree, or equivalent work experience, in Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in manufacturing/production, including at least 2 years prior supervisory/management roles.
- Proven experience in managing others, providing guidance, coaching, training and feedback to ensure individual and team success.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Results-oriented with a strong customer focus.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to analyze situations and respond in a timely manner.
- Experience with lean manufacturing is a plus.

Work Environment/Physical Demands/Travel:
- Ability to work in a typical production environment with loud noise levels and moving equipment.
- Exposure to hazardous chemicals used in blending, packaging, and distribution.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, talk, see, hear, and use hands/wrists for extended periods.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts to tasks such as frequency distribution, test reliability, and analysis of variance.
- Ability to apply principles of logic and scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to work near moving machinery and at heights, with limited exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, vibration, and extreme temperatures.
- Limited travel (<10%) is required for this role.
