Job Purpose
GC Therapeutics is seeking a talented and detail-oriented individual with multiple years of animal research experience to join our growing preclinical team as a research associate. Under the supervision of a senior scientist, this candidate will support study execution for internal in in vivo studies, including rodent models such as rats and mice. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in designing, executing, and analyzing in vivostudies using animal models of diseases. This candidate will be involved in all aspects of our experiments to assess GCTx’s cell therapies in small animal models. The candidate should be coachable, determined, well-organized, responsible, and able to collaborate with other team members.
Key Requirements
- Educational background: Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years in industry, or master’s degree with 2+ years.
- Proficient in mouse handling, including compound or cell administration via IV, SC, and PO routes.
- Experienced in IV, retro-orbital and saphenous vein blood collection, necropsy, and ex vivo sample preparation.
- Proficient at ex vivo tissue processing and downstream analyses using immunostaining, flow cytometry, ELISA and ddPCR.
- Have comprehensive understanding of and compliance with IACUC regulations including animal care, safety, and handling regulations.
- Strong project management and organizational skills and ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Effective communication with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work onsite 100% of the time including occasional weekend hours.
Research and analytical skills:
- In vivo Technical Procedures, including dosing, anesthesia administration, surgical procedures, and post-operative care and manage samples collected from in vivo studies.
- Study Execution: Demonstrated ability to independently execute in vivo studies focused on cell therapy efficacy, safety and mechanism of action. Execute and troubleshoot standard protocols, adapting new ones as required.
- Data Analysis
- Ability to conduct critical analysis and interpret data using software tools like Prism and FlowJo.
- Data Management
- Efficient in data entry and analysis; proficient in communicating results to both managers and broader audiences as necessary.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Surgical experience (terminal and survival) in rodent models is a plus.
- Practical familiarity with stem cell differentiation protocols.
- Ability to conduct high quality presentations at internal meetings.
