Position: Staff Software Engineer, SRE / Staff Site Reliability Engineer

Role Overview: As a Staff Site Reliability Engineer, you will balance individual contributions with leading new projects, setting technical direction, and mentoring team members. You will play a crucial role in helping engineering teams design, deploy, and manage reliable software across all environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deep systems engineering and optimization to address performance issues.
  • Define performance and reliability roadmaps.
  • Set service-level objectives, improve observability, ensure production readiness, and optimize performance.
  • Facilitate incident response and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Automate operational tasks and design reliable system architectures.
  • Mentor and train team members on best practices.

Qualifications:

  • At least 8 years of experience in backend software or infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to architect and develop solutions to complex problems.
  • Strong skills in observability, debugging, and performance tuning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking under pressure.
  • Willingness to dive into any layer of the stack.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with blockchains and protocols.
  • Familiarity with rapid growth environments.
  • Proficiency in Ruby, Go, and Terraform.
  • Experience with cloud environments like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Experience in highly regulated environments.
  • Ability to write technical blog posts and training materials.

Compensation:

  • Target annual salary: $200k+, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.
