POSITION PURPOSE
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Designer to join our apparel design team. In this role, you will ensure that all garments meet the highest standards for fit, construction, and production efficiency. You will collaborate closely with design, product development, and production teams to bring creative visions to life while maintaining technical accuracy and quality control. The ideal candidate has a strong background in apparel construction, patternmaking, and garment fitting, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to communicate effectively across departments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Lead the development and execution of tech packs, including detailed construction sketches, specifications, and fit comments.
- Collaborate with the design team to interpret the creative vision and translate it into technically accurate garments.
- Manage the fit process from prototype through final production approval, ensuring consistency in fit and quality across all styles.
- Conduct fittings on live models or dress forms, providing expert guidance on garment construction, pattern adjustments, and fabric behavior.
- Partner with factories and production teams to ensure that designs meet manufacturing capabilities and production timelines.
- Review and approve samples, ensuring that all styles adhere to design specifications and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to garment construction, fit, and production, proposing practical solutions.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, innovations in fabrics, and new construction techniques to continuously improve product quality and performance.
Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Fashion or apparel construction
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: At least 10 years of technical design experience preferred.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Pattern making experience is desired
- Experience in working with overseas factories
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in technical design, with a focus on apparel.
- Expertise in garment construction, patternmaking, and technical specifications.
- Proficient in design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, CAD, etc.) and PLM systems.
- Strong understanding of fabric properties, grading, and garment manufacturing processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams.
- Highly detail-oriented, with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
