Entry - Level CHEMICAL ENGINEER/MATERIALS SCIENTIST

ABOUT US:
ACP Technologies is an agile, innovative, and growth-oriented company looking to add an entry level chemical engineer to work on the development and commercialization of our proprietary mesophase pitch process. This is a unique opportunity to commercialize groundbreaking innovative technology for a novel application. Position reports directly to the Senior Chemical Engineer.
ACPT is known for its innovative work with carbon materials, including mesophase pitch, isotropic pitch, graphite, carbon fiber, and carbon-carbon composites. These products are used in next generation lithium-ion batteries, rockets, military vehicles, and equipment. These programs are supported by contracts from the DOD and DLA.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES:
Successful candidates should be knowledgeable in fluid flow, vapor-liquid equilibrium, heat transfer and organic chemistry.
- Interpret lab/plant data and results.
- Troubleshoot process issues with the design team
- Work with the design team to follow existing design of experiments (DOE) and develop additional DOEs to achieve project goals.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and conduct experiments.
- Write reports to share experimental results
- Prepare PowerPoint reports to satisfy sponsor/customer requirements and maintain project funding status.
- Participate in regular meetings with our partners and customers to ensure that key requirements, limitations, and goals are identified and met.
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of government updates.
Due to the start-up environment of the company, job duties are always changing. Candidates should have flexibility to pivot tasks and curiosity to learn new subjects and skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
APPLICANT MUST BE A US CITIZEN AND ELIGIBLE FOR A MILITARY SECURITY CLEARANCE
No H1B, F1 or other visa candidates and no green card holders will be considered.
- BS in Chemical Engineering (Materials Science also considered)
- 3+ years of experience in R&D, product development, or applications development, with some project management
- 3+ years lab experience
- Excellent communication skills: well-written data presentation is essential to communicate project success quickly and efficiently.
- Able to work independently but not alone, much of the work requires collaboration and communication with many people, both inside and outside the company

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Job Type:
- Full-time, up to 50 hours/week
Schedule:
- About 50% 8-hour shift and 50% 12-hour shifts
- Mostly day shift with possibility of night shift
- Monday to Friday with possibility of weekends.
- Schedule uncertainty is due to the large changes occurring with our plant within the next year.
Supplemental pay types:

Willingness to travel:
- 10% (Preferred)
Work Location: One to two within 15 miles of each other.
