The Director of Construction Projects and Facilities Management is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and maintenance of all construction projects and facility operations. This leadership role requires a strategic thinker with strong project management skills, a deep understanding of construction processes, and a commitment to maintaining high standards for facilities management. This director will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet organizational goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Travel as necessary to fulfill role responsibilities and meet project objectives.
  • Construction & Project Oversight:
  • Lead and manage all phases of construction projects, from initial planning and budgeting to execution and final delivery.
  • Developing and implementing project controls, including cost management, schedule adherence, and quality assurance.
  • Develop and manage budgets for construction projects and facilities operations, ensuring cost efficiency and resource optimization.
  • Create budgets related to internal resources used for the projects, such as material and labor budgets for divisions like flooring when installing new flooring at the design centers.
  • Secure necessary approvals for these budgets and maintain constant communication with the accounting department and the CFO on costing and forecasting matters.
  • Overseeing the construction of design centers, warehouses, and fabrication facilities.
  • Weekly Dashboard Updates: The director shall provide dashboards with project updates on a weekly basis at a minimum, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed of the project status, financial performance, and any potential risks or delays.

Facilities Oversight:

Maintenance & Procurement Oversite

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive facilities management strategy that includes preventive maintenance, space planning, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Coordinate and supervise facility maintenance and repair activities.
  • Ensure that all systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) are operational and address any issues promptly.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external partners to address facility needs and resolve any issues promptly.
  • Oversee the selection and management of external vendors and contractors for services such as janitorial work, security, repairs, and renovations.
  • Negotiate contracts and oversee the delivery of services to ensure quality and compliance with contractual terms.
  • Manage relationships with external contractors and service providers.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations across all facilities.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience successfully managing large-scale construction projects and overseeing complex facilities operations.
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction processes, methods, materials, and safety practices.
  • Knowledge of sustainability practices and energy management.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Facilities Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in construction leadership role.

Preferred Skills:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP)
  • Certified Facility Manager (CFM)
  • Construction Management Certification (i.e., CCM)
  • At least 10 years’ experience working with project management software such as Primavera, Procore, or Microsoft Project.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, building codes, and industry standards
