The Position:
The Electrical/Quality Engineer is a Houston based position that it plays an important role with this rapid growing company. This is a very dynamic and fast-track position reporting to the Director of Technical Services and O&M. The position will be the key member of service team. This position will split their time between service quality and manufacturing quality programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of tasks involved in the Quality Management of the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of various solar inverters and battery storage technologies.
- Establish and maintain the Sungrow Service Quality Management Program.
- Serve as the local Subject Matter Expert for the Sungrow Manufacturing Quality Management Program.
- Coordinate with Field Service Management to establish quality evidence documents to be collected and stored on Sungrow’s work management system GSP.
- Conduct regularly scheduled audits with field service vendors to ensure compliance and provide feedback to the Field Service Management team and Technical Trainer.
- Coordinate with the manufacturing quality departments in China, India, and other locations to ensure that all product quality issues are documented. Coordinate with Field Service Management and the Technical Trainer to ensure Non-Conformance Reports and other Manufacturing Quality data collection programs are understood.
- Sample and Review quality evidence documents to identify service quality performance and drive improvements with suppliers, Sungrow Manufacturing, and Sungrow Service. Where appropriate and with the support of the Performance Engineers, use metrics, data tracking and reporting to identify the same.
- Assist the Local Service Electrical Engineers, Local Performance Engineers and Remote Technical Support Engineers in the performance of the Root Cause Analysis process.
- Participate in Customer discussions and reviews covering the Quality Management Programs and any active improvement projects.
- Generate quarterly presentations showing the Major Product Quality and Service Quality issues in the local region.
- Identify the need for 3rd party quality services and manage the 3rd party in providing those services.
- Track open training requirements with plans to implement effective training.
- Interface with other technical and non-technical personnel communicating at a technical level that can be understood by the person that is receiving the information.
- Create Field reliability reports for our products.
- Support each SME in the CoE team to perform their job and with overflow.
- Perform a variety of engineering assignment involving technology applications involved in the installation, operation, testing and maintenance of various solar inverters and battery storage technologies.
- Interact with customers to explain the technical scope of projects.
- Create Field Service procedures for troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Coordinate with R&D engineering in China for the generation of technical documents and training.
- Perform electrical and electronic troubleshooting and testing of solar inverters and its components in the field or in the laboratory.
- Work with customer SCADA engineers to set-up systems communication and parameters
- Prepare, deliver and submit field reports to customer and management.
- Conduct site visits, experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alterative, and provide recommendations.
- Other Duties as Assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- 6 plus years of overall experience.
- 4 years of experience in solar inverters or battery storage products
- Must possess strong statistical analysis skills.
- Willing to get EIT if not already have it.
- Must possess customer service, problem-solving skills, and possess decision making and analytical skills
- Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrates broad knowledge of quality management programs and best quality practices
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, power Point and Outlook)
Education or Desired License and Certificates:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics or power electronics engineering.
- Solar industry, battery industry, or power electronics experience is required

For candidates in the states of California, Colorado, New York and Washington, the anticipated annual base salary for this role is between $80,000 - $120,000 This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The base salary offered is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, education, location, or other factors related to the role.
