Enterprise Portfolio Manager – Sales & Service

What Will You Do?

The Enterprise Portfolio Manager is strategic, results-oriented and plays a critical role in helping portfolios align their strategy with execution. They are responsible for facilitating, driving, and overseeing the unified portfolio planning and governance cadence of the entire portfolio of value streams, ensuring that they are aligned with the portfolio’s goals and delivering value to internal and external customers and driving business growth.

This position will drive accountability and promote unified visibility across the organization.

Portfolio Strategy and Governance:

  • Develop and maintain the portfolio strategy, vision, and roadmap.
  • Maintain and deliver portfolio management services for assigned portfolios, ensuring projects and programs align to the company’s strategic objectives.
  • Manage resource allocation and ensure optimal utilization across the portfolio.
  • Manage the intake of new projects and initiatives assisting project champions with the creation of financial models, value cases and value measurements to support decision making and prioritization.
  • Portfolio Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks across the portfolio.
  • Develop contingency plans and course-correction strategies to address unforeseen challenges.
  • Track risk indicators and ensure proactive communication to stakeholders.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Promote transparency and provide visibility to the flow of work through the portfolio ensuring that value streams are delivering at a steady pace and that bottlenecks are identified and addressed.
  • Monitor progress of major initiatives and track portfolio performance against strategic goals.
  • Generate and communicate highly relevant portfolio status reports to stakeholders and executives.
  • Audit project artifacts to make sure all projects are utilizing the proper tools and PMO processes are being followed.
  • Maintain, manage, and ensure data integrity of information within project management software tools.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Establish and facilitate strategic and portfolio review meetings.
  • Facilitate collaboration and communication between globally dispersed value streams to ensure they are aligned and working towards common goals and managing dependencies.
  • Foster a culture of transparency and shared accountability within the portfolio.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and build trust in the portfolio decision-making process.
  • Collaborate with and mentor program and project managers.

Portfolio Operations Excellence:

  • Foster a continuous improvement culture through metrics-driven decision making.
  • Implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the portfolio.
  • Analyze portfolio data, identify opportunities for improvement, recommend and implement portfolio optimization strategies to improve efficiency and value delivery.

What Do You Need?

  • 10+ years proven experience in outcome-oriented portfolio management, preferably in an Agile environment.
  • Proven experience delivering large complex projects and programs.
  • Demonstrated expertise of building consensus across business and technology leaders, and influencing successful outcomes
  • Experience working in a highly matrixed work environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, project management, or related field, or equivalent work experience, required
  • PMP Certification, preferred
  • Occasional domestic travel with opportunity for international travel.
  • Flexible and willing to work extended hours when necessary.
  • Ability to think strategically, manage complexity, influence, and work effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Highly analytical with ability to establish processes that drive fact-based decision making.
  • Proactive desire to own and drive programs forward through measurable process, planning, and team engagement.
  • Advanced communication, team dynamics, conflict resolution, mentoring and leadership skills.
  • In-depth understanding of portfolio and program budgets
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously within established time constraints.
