Job Summary: The Systems Administrator will primarily be focused on Windows Active Directory consolidation of multiple domains, as well as, server upgrades and/or new OS build replacements for existing Windows 2012 server environments. Strong Windows Active Directory skills, PowerShell scripting and O365/Exchange skills are required.
Location: This contractor role can be fully remote with a strong preference for candidates local to the Charlotte, NC area.
Terms: Full-time, 40 hours/week with a December 9, 2024 start date. Length of assignment may be up to 6 months with the possibility of permanent conversion.
Pay Rate: $90-$120/an hour.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the consolidation of five domains into a new single domain. Most user accounts and workstations have been migrated, however, there are many servers left to migrate and/or rebuild in the new domain. There is also AD clean-up work to do in legacy domains with user and workstation accounts.
- All users have been migrated to O365, however, there are multiple Exchange servers on-premises that need final dependencies moved off and services decommissioned. Looking to build a central hybrid server in replacement.
- Rebuild and/or replace several remaining legacy Windows Server 2012.
- Leverage PowerShell scripting for general reporting and administrative tasks in support of the projects.
Required Skill and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or similar field, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years’ experience in Windows system administration – Windows Server, Active Directory, GPO, MS Exchange/O365, IIS, DFS, Print Services, PowerShell.
- Expertise with scripting for automation of patching, application installation, etc.
- Detail oriented and able to oversee multiple infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated ability to balance IT concerns and business needs while at the same time being a strong advocate for IT best practices.
- Demonstrated ability and desire to independently stay current with the constantly evolving technologies.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience with core Microsoft Windows Server and O365/Exchange technologies.
- Experience with server virtualization technologies (VMware, Nutanix).
- Experience with PowerShell scripting to automation systems management functions.
- Experience administering SAN & NAS storage technologies (NetApp, Dell PowerScale).
- Expertise with managing systems management (ex. SCCM/MECP, Intune).
- Experience with Identity Access Management and SSO (Okta).
