Join Energy Systems Design as a technology designer! Our team works on designing AV, Theatrical Systems, IT, Security, and Smart Building Systems for educational, institutional, theatrical, retail, and commercial building projects.

ESD is a team-oriented and client-focused group of mechanical, plumbing, electrical and technology design professionals. We are committed to creative and technically innovative solutions, including technical lighting and integrated system designs. Established in 1988, we have been providing exemplary engineering design for over 35 years. The home office is in Scottsdale Arizona and a branch office is in Austin, Texas. We currently have a total of 40 employees.

PROJECT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare designs, calculations, and well-coordinated, technically sound construction documents that are cost effective, clear, and efficient.
  • Communicate and coordinate with architects, owners, other engineering disciplines, vendors, building officials throughout the design phases of a project.
  • Monitor project budgets and profitability.
  • Prepare or direct preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, and designs for project.
  • Attend construction site visits to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents.
  • Review of shop drawings and submittals.
  • Respond to RFI's and coordinate with contractors, design team, building officials, and owners throughout the construction phase of the project.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, information technology, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university; or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in technology system design, with a focus on AV, Theatrical Systems, IT, Security, or Smart Buildings Systems.
  • Proficient in use of AutoCAD, REVIT MEP, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and codes (e.g., NEC, NFPA, BICSI, and AVIXA).
  • Strong understanding of building infrastructure in educational, institutional, theatrical, retail, and commercial markets.
  • Experience with project coordination and client communication.
  • Problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with the ability to troubleshoot design and integration issues.
  • Familiarity with sustainable design practices and how technology systems can support environmental goals.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical details to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to meet fast-paced deadlines while maintaining quality of work.
  • Self-manager to accomplish multiple project responsibilities.
  • Continuous practice of personal accountability.
