A career as a Chief Data Analyst on the Data Analytics & Client Data Support team at National Bank means to analyze and interpret data to drive National Bank Independent Network (NBIN) products & services for independent firms . In this role, you will use your analytical & critical thinking to work closely with internal stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical specifications to ensure timely implementation of appropriate and practical technical solutions that satisfy the business needs and have a positive impact on the organization.

Your job

  • Support closely with stakeholders throughout the organization to drive value from data
  • Mine and analyze date from various sources to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing and business strategies
  • Create analytical data models that track key performance indicators; perform analysis and represent data using rich visualizations
  • Design and develop analytical solutions and make recommendations based on the business strategy and stakeholder needs
  • Identify & assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques
  • Act as a consultant to clients for data solution needs including engineering, reporting and advanced visualizations
  • Create datasets that will be used as a reusable source to reports, dashboards and data solutions
  • Influence as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and lead discussions related to requirements gathering and data visuals


Your team

You are part of a large team of colleagues within NBIN and report to the Senior Manager, Data Analytics & Client Data Support. The team is a key strategic partner at NBIN, responsible for providing data solutions, reporting and support for all internal functions to drive efficiencies and effective decision making. NBIN is the pre-eminent choice for independent wealth management firms looking for brokerage administration support, providing trading and custodial services to Portfolio Managers (PM) and is a Carrying Broker to CIRO (Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization) registered Introducing Brokers (IB) across Canada. Prerequisites

  • University degree in Computer Science or any other relevant field
  • Minimum 7 years experience in a BI role or similar position
  • Minimum 7 years experience in SQL programming and optimizing SQL queries
  • Minimum 5 years experience creating data models and rich visualizations using Power BI ( DAX & Power query)
  • Experience with Azure, AWS and using R and Python programming languages is preferred
  • Ability to solve complex problems and handle unusual situations that require creativity and being up to date on new technologies/best practices in the industry
